If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Doctor Who, it’s that education matters.
Access to a quality education makes a difference in every aspect of someone’s life. It can be the determining factor between despair and hope, poverty and stability, even death and life.
An education impacts both an individual’s and a family’s access to health care, employment, prosperity, and overall quality of life… but there are over 258 million young people around the world who aren’t enrolled in a school. A rapidly changing technological landscape calls for skilled and educated workers… but in the United States alone, 32 million adults can’t read.
Doctor Who fans can help change this.
What we’re doing
This October, representatives from your favourite Doctor Who podcasts and some very special guests are coming together to record podcast commentaries for the stories of Season 26: the final season of the Classic Series of Doctor Who. On the 30th anniversary of its broadcast, over 50 people will come together to talk about the 14 episodes of season 26, which includes the stories: Battlefield, Ghost Light, The Curse of Fenric and Survival, all featuring Sylvester McCoy as the seventh Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace.
As a special bonus, Sophie Aldred, who played Ace in Doctor Who, will also be recording a commentary on an episode in season 26.
These special podcast commentaries won’t be available on any one show’s feed, however: we’re offering them exclusively to listeners who provide a donation to an organization that helps to increase access to education.
We’re raising funds for The Malala Fund, an organization that fights for girls’ access to education around the world, for every girl’s right to learn and lead as well as several other organizations in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
How to take part
Here’s what you have to do. Between now and November 10th, make a donation of $10 or more to one of these organizations:

Last year, In the Doctor Who episode ‘Rosa’, we were reminded that “An education makes you unstoppable”. Let’s help more people to be unstoppable. And just like the Doctor, let’s continue to be kind.
